School: Maya I Progress

I'm at that stage in the semester now where I'm steadily doing stuff, but it's mostly the little details that don't show well in screenshots and/or get really boring to explain, so I'll spare you.

So here's my turtle. He's got a skeleton and and stuff now, but you can't see it. Thought it might be nice to see my tests with lighting and the shell-top scenery.

More soon, trust me!

[Edit]: I felt like that wording was a bit patronizing, so I decided to let you in on what goes on behind the scenes. Scary right?

Sweet turtle!! Loving the new stuff, the volcano looks great. You should show me the actual model, I haven't seen it in a while. It also looks really organized - all of the faces look very carefully placed. Twitchy kid would shit bricks. Bet you can't wait to do all those uv's tho ;)

Not bad sir. For the creases that make the turtle shell have definition have you considered making a bump map for that by chance to cut back on the poly count and also save a bit of render time? Nothing wrong with how your going about it mind you just always a bit easier to do the little details like that on a texture map then having to model out every little thing ;). Would love to see the model it's self to get a better view of it but yeah for the most part from what I can see it's looking good.
